This policy covers the Easy Language Software language-learning app (“the app”), which has been published on Google Play and the Apple App Store under several names over time, including “Learn Spanish: Speak & Listen”, “Yip Yap: Learn English & More”, and “Learn English Learn a Language”. It is the same app; this one policy applies to all of them.
The app does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or password, and we do not sell personal data. You can download the app and start learning without telling us who you are.
Speaking exercises use your device's microphone to check your pronunciation. When AI speech recognition is on (the default), your recording is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and to OpenAI to be transcribed, then evaluated so the app can show you what was heard and how closely it matched. Recordings are processed to provide this feature and are not retained by us; transcripts and scores are stored with a random anonymous identifier (not your name, email, or device ID) so the app can show you your own speaking progress.
You can switch to your device's built-in speech recognition instead at any time in Settings. That processing is performed by your device's operating system (Apple or Google) under their own privacy policies, and only the resulting text — not audio — reaches our servers.
The app uses Google Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics — for example, which lessons are started and completed and whether the app crashes. This information is aggregated, is not used to identify you, and helps us fix bugs and improve lessons. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
This website (easylanguagesoftware.com) uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and measure which lessons and features are used. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
The app is free and supported by advertising, served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may process device information such as your IP address, device model, and the device's advertising identifier, under Google's advertising privacy terms.
The app does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. You can limit or reset your device's advertising identifier at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Lesson progress is stored on your device; deleting the app deletes it. Speaking-practice transcripts and scores are stored on our server under the random anonymous identifier described above so the app can show your speaking analysis. Email us to have them deleted.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no personal information is required to use the app, it is suitable for learners of all ages.
If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
